As usual, reception, nurses and assistants were all efficient and friendly. Past experience in getting and appointment to see a GP face to face has been proved frustrating because there is usually a wait of several days before an appointment is available. Telephone appointment - easy and efficient and if a face to face appt is necessary. The GP can organise one fairly quickly (hence my no. 3 mark on next page).

I was seen as an emergency patient. I was seen by Dr Money and he especially waited for me to get to the surgery even though this would mean by the time I was seen the surgery would be closed. Dr Money diagnosed me with two medical conditions and in essence solved the mysteries of my health that have plagued me for approximately four years - concise, to the point, approachable, considerate and professional. He is the kind of doctor that all surgeries should have and a type of family doctor we all miss in this day and age.

Dr Usope? Asked me to sit down, introduced himself to me, asked how he could help me, as I needed to be examined, he asked if it was al right to call in another doctor, to make sure he was doing the right, he listened to me, was kind, considerate and helpful. I think he will make a very good GP, when he finished his training. Yes I did get great care as usual today.

People complain about having to wait sometimes an hour or so to see a gp, but I think this is a good service. If you want to see a gp urgently you are never turned away.

Despite being told by a male partner Doctor that my condition was caused by 'my age and medication', it was thanks to the diabetic nurse referring me to the diabetic Doctor that my terminal cancer was picked up following tests at the local Hospital. Since then my care by the practice has been faultless and I give everyone from the receptionists, nurses and Doctors the greatest thanks. I have seen various Doctors from the practice and each one (with the exception of the partner) has shown care and compassion in my treatment. Although I understand there are times when it is difficult to get an appointment, it is the way of GP practices everywhere these days and everyone tries their best at Maryport.
